Security Consultancy of the Year
The Business Crime Reduction Centre (BCRC), an innovative project funded by Yorkshire Forward*, has been named Security Consultancy of the Year, beating seven other finalists at the nationally acclaimed Security Excellence Awards 2010.
The Business Crime Reduction Centre won the award for its groundbreaking activities in advising businesses on the most appropriate security measures, pointing out the vulnerabilities in their physical and ICT security systems. Additionally, to counter the growing threat of cyber crime, theft of data and online fraud, BCRC has developed specialist services to ensure businesses websites and online activities are secure.
The Centre’s Director David Ransom said “We are delighted to have won this award. It recognises the hard work of the Business Security Advisers, who spend their time visiting companies and providing them with invaluable security advice. The project receives backing from Yorkshire Forward who had the vision to support BCRC, recognising that the threats from crime are a deterrent to business confidence and growth. Crime is a brake on economic growth and therefore, in these difficult times, it is vital that businesses do not suffer the losses brought about by crime.”
Chief Inspector Dave Fortune, Police Secondee to Yorkshire Forward said “Yorkshire Forward and the four regional police forces are thrilled that the Business Crime Reduction Centre continues to get national recognition. It is an excellent example of regional collaboration. With the risk of crime increasing and changing, the advice that BCRC provides supports businesses so that they can get on with contributing to economic recovery without the distraction and additional cost caused by being a victim of crime.
Jim Farmery, Assistant Director Business at Yorkshire Forward also added his congratulations and said ” Businesses told Yorkshire Forward that crime was a problem, we listened and responded by helping establish the BCRC and the results have been fantastic. Awards and nominations are good but it’s our regional businesses that are the real winners by benefiting from the centres services.”
The awards were hosted by Security Management Online Today and info4security.com, with sponsorship of the British Security Industry Association, Skills for Security, Securitas and Genie CCTV.
