Reducing Metals Theft Through Partnership

Acknowledging the massive detrimental impact metals theft continues to have on the regional economy, the BCRC has dedicated resources to investigating the problem and developing a solution through closer partnership working between the industries affected and other relevant organisations.

The work, currently in its infancy will lead to an information and intelligence sharing hub, which will seek to:

• Share intelligence of current hot spots.
• Develop crime reduction advice that will be of direct relevance to those who work with metals.
• Disseminate intelligence on current trends in metals thefts in the region.
• Share information on crimes, and include information on what has been stolen and how, to assist the metals recycling industry with identifying stolen goods.
